Hi vis workwear is essential for being seen and staying safe on site. Hi vis workwear is commonly available in two colours – yellow and orange. Not sure which hi vis colour is best for you? It’s always important to consider your surroundings, because the main purpose of this clothing is to make you stand out in your working environment. Many workers will choose yellow hi vis for its brightness – it’s easier to see in low light, and is a great choice for indoor work in workshops or warehouses too. However, some sites or industries will have their own regulations on colour. For example, rail workers must wear orange hi vis to meet the safety standards required in RIS-3279-TOM. With a lot of rail work carried out in green environments, orange is required because it stands out more – it ensures rail workers on or near trackside are more visible to drivers of trains and other vehicles.
